About SSAT
The SSAT stands for the Secondary School Admission Test. It is a standardized test that is used by many independent and private schools in the United States and Canada as part of their admissions process for students in grades 3-11. The test measures a student's abilities in verbal, math, and reading comprehension, and also includes an unscored writing sample.
There are three levels of the SSAT: the Elementary Level (for students in grades 3-4), the Middle Level (for students in grades 5-7), and the Upper Level (for students in grades 8-11). The test is multiple choice and is administered on paper or online.
The SSAT is designed to assess a student's readiness for the academic rigor of an independent or private school education. Scores on the SSAT are one factor that schools consider when making admissions decisions, along with other factors such as grades, extracurricular activities, and teacher recommendations.
Preparing for the SSAT typically involves reviewing and practicing the types of questions that will be on the test, as well as developing test-taking strategies. There are many resources available for students who are preparing for the SSAT, including study guides, practice tests, and tutoring services.
